What Exactly Does Full Service Interior Design Mean?
The term "full service interior design" is one you may have heard about, but don’t actually know what it means. So what exactly is full service interior design? What does it encompass? Here you’ll find a comprehensive look into the world of interior design and what it means to experience a full service interior design.
What is Full Service Interior Design?
Selecting and Sourcing All Design Materials
At the heart of full service interior design is the meticulous process of selecting and sourcing materials. It's not just about choosing the right color palette; it's a journey of discovering materials, textures, and elements that create a cohesive design in line with your vision. From furniture and fixtures to textiles and finishes, every detail is handpicked with precision. I create moodboards to help my team and the client see all the details come together for a space and provide a concrete plan. This process is not one we take lightly. Each piece is chosen with great attention to detail.

Ordering and Tracking
The journey doesn't end with selection; it extends into the realm of logistics. Full service design means taking charge of the entire ordering and tracking process. This involves liaising with suppliers, ensuring timely deliveries, and meticulously tracking every item for the project to guarantee a seamless flow of the design and timely project completion.
Receiving and Inspection
In addition, handling the receiving and inspection of products is a crucial phase that distinguishes full service interior design. We are at the receiving warehouses, overseeing the inspection of each item to ensure it arrives undamaged and meets the highest standards of quality. This process safeguards the client's investment, avoids costly time delays, and sets the stage for a flawless implementation.
Construction Management
A distinctive feature of full service design is the role it plays in construction management. For each project, we handle the implementation and oversight of the construction management. Each job gets a comprehensive spec binder, which includes detailed documents that guide contractors through the entire renovation process. Everything from supplies, products, notes, detailed plans, and anything else related to the project are contained in the binder, which will be at the job site on day one of demo - aka the start of your project. During this phase, we are working alongside trades and artisans, ensuring that the construction phase aligns with the vision, everything runs smoothly, and troubleshooting any challenges should they arise.
Install Day
The much-anticipated install day is a pivotal moment in the full-service design journey, and one of my favorites! It unfolds in two parts—the first is the orchestration of plumbing. lighting details, and hardware. This is when the jewelry of the space takes the stage. On this day, all the careful planning comes to life with designers on-site overseeing every detail, such as hardware placement, height of pendants, and even ensuring the correct spread for sink space as we work with the stone fabricator. There is not one aspect of the process that we do not have a hand in, making sure everything is to our standards.
Bringing Spaces to Life
The final "install day" is furniture and decor, where the design team breathes life into the space. It involves not only placing furniture, but also coordinating the perfect alignment of decor and accessories. My team works extra hard lining up the furniture, loading cars, and even shopping for last minute details. This behind-the-scenes effort sets the tone for clients to step into a welcoming and exhilarating new space, tailored to their tastes and lifestyle. It marks the moments before the grand reveal, where you return to your new beloved space and see the full transformation.
Full service interior design goes beyond the boundaries of traditional design approaches. It is a commitment to guiding clients through every step of the design process, from conception to realization. By seamlessly integrating the art of curation with the precision of logistics and construction management, full service design transforms spaces into personalized, curated havens that reflect you!
