This project embodies the historical roots of Point Loma, known for homes inspired by the principles of iconic architect Frank Lloyd Wright. Blending mid-century modern elements with calming transitional aesthetics, this 1952 bungalow celebrates both style and history. From the beginning, our client’s vision was clear: she wanted something different. She envisioned a home that honored its original character while celebrating the couple’s love of entertaining and connection.

Taking inspiration from Point Loma’s history and Wright’s designs, we crafted spaces that combine rich materials with functional design. Each room reflects artistry and practicality.

From preserving the home’s original 1952 flooring to incorporating hand-crafted Oaxacan pottery pendants made from locally sourced clay, the design honors history and craftsmanship. Every detail, from the unique kitchen cabinetry to meaningful Mexican pottery, tells a story.

The kitchen is a showstopper with custom VG Douglas Fir cabinetry that brings warmth and depth, paired with a dimensional tile backsplash and a La Cornue range. Handcrafted clay pendants from Oaxaca, Mexico, hang above.

In the dining space, our client’s father’s vintage wine cabinet and a bold wallpaper from Schumacher add personality, while a bar area ensures it’s ready for gatherings.

For the primary suite, we chose a spa-like aesthetic that grounds and soothes. In the bedroom, a plaster fireplace with a white oak shelf brings warmth, while a calm, neutral palette enhances relaxation.

“I was referred to Keri via a friend and it was the best decision I made in the design and construction process! She helped bring our ideas and loose vision to life. Both my husband and I work full time and Keri helped spear-head and lead our kitchen, living room, master bedroom and master bath redesign. Keri spent time getting to us know, our home, our style and then saved us SO much time by streamlining design appointments. Every day I walk into my house and think - I love that light fixture, love the light steaming in that window, and thank goodness she convinced me to paint my walls white! We went with her recommended contractor and we finished our project on time with an expanded scope! Highly recommend Keri as a designer who will translate and listen to your needs, keep you on schedule, and make your house feel like your own.”
