Project Seaview: A Coastal Kitchen & Living Space Transformation
There’s something magical about designing a space that reflects a client’s vision and brings in the natural beauty outside. We recently completed Project Seaview, and as the name implies it is a gorgeous home with stunning ocean views. In fact, after taking in the beautiful views, we knew we wanted our design to reflect the calming, coastal vibe seen just beyond the home. This full renovation project was an exciting journey where we sought to bring elements of the outdoors into the home and create a light, airy, and relaxing space for our clients to enjoy. From a complete kitchen overhaul to adding a bar and lounge area, new flooring, and transforming the fireplace, each aspect of this renovation was a labor of love, but it was all worth it because the end result was better than we envisioned!
Creating a Light and Airy Kitchen
A big part of this renovation was the kitchen. The change in this space is truly remarkable. Before, the kitchen felt dark - even with the natural light from the patio doors. Now, you wouldn’t even recognize this kitchen! Each and every material was selected with such care to ensure we achieved the light and airy, coastal style.

We worked closely with a finisher to achieve the perfect white oak stain for the cabinets in the island. It took several rounds of samples and tweaking, but we’re so happy with the final result. The warm, natural wood tones bring a grounded element to the space while still keeping everything light.
The marble we selected for the countertops is gorgeous. The veining throughout the stone is a work of art on its own. It was important to us to choose a material that was both functional and beautiful—and this marble checked all the boxes.
Above the kitchen island, we installed concrete pendant lights that were a true breath of fresh air in the space. The soft gray tones and clean lines bring the perfect scale and color to complement the kitchen design.
One of the biggest challenges (and successes!) in the kitchen was the custom hood. It took nearly 10 revisions to get the shape just right, but we knew it had to be perfect. After finalizing the shape, we had the hood plastered, giving it a soft, natural texture.
The backsplash was the final touch that tied everything together, adding a subtle pop of light blue with hints of terracotta. It brought warmth to the space and gave the kitchen its own design moment to speak. The kitchen is now warm, welcoming, and naturally bright with the perfect balance of coastal and earthy elements.
A Relaxing Oasis
Just beyond the kitchen, we removed a wall to open up the space between the bar area and kitchen. Removing the wall instantly opened things up and allowed the spaces to feel much more connected and inviting.

By opening up the layout, we created a natural flow between the kitchen and lounge, making the space feel larger and more versatile. The result is a multifunctional area that’s equally great for a casual coffee in the morning or for hosting guests in the evening. I loved creating this fun new bar and lounge area for my clients to relax and unwind.
The living room fireplace was another major focus for this project. The tile we chose for the fireplace surround is nothing short of special. The tile is so soft it almost looks like a pillow—bringing in the perfect amount of texture while keeping with the home’s light, airy aesthetic. Each tile is handmade, and you can really see the artistry in them. I love how they reflect the natural beauty and subtle movement of the ocean, giving the room a serene, calming vibe that flows seamlessly with the rest of the home styling. Everything came together beautifully to create a relaxing oasis for this family.
A Thoughtfully Designed Home for San Diego Coastal Living
I absolutely love the final result of Project Seaview and how it reflects the home’s natural surroundings, while creating a functional, beautiful space for my clients. Every detail, from the hand-finished cabinetry to the soft blue tile, was chosen to enhance the feeling of coastal serenity. It brings me so much joy to know that this home is now a comfortable retreat for my clients to enjoy.
